Can you have auto insurance without a car?

I recently had my car repossessed and with the amount the finance company was asking I could not afford to get it back. I am wanting to know if you can have insurance without having a vehicle listed on the policy? I occasionally drive my partners vehicle and I need to have insurance and I do not want to terminate my current policy I am with Nationwide Insurance

you can carry non owners policy BUT if you live with your partner or anyone else who owns a car, you CAN'T carry that policy.  you must live in a home where noone owns a car and you have no access to a car in order to carry non owners insurance.  if you do live with your partner or someone who owns a car, have them place you on their policy.

Yup, call your insurer and tell them you need a 'non-owners' policy.  You'll be covered for liability on any borrowed vehicles you drive.  It will also satisfy your state financial responsibility laws.  

In the future, if you buy a car just have it added for a standard auto policy.

yes,  I am not sure if Nationwide offers it, but I know Progressive does.
