  1. My first wife and I had the Justice of the peace marry us at our home.  No limit on guests.

Most states require two witnesses, so that would be the minimum number of guests.

Other than that, it would be up to the justice.  Ask when you get your license.

  2. Depends on where you leave as well as some J.P.'s will come to your home.  Best would be to call the court house and find out.

  3. These are usually called witnesses, typically they are very few in number.

  4. when i got married at the j.p. we were allowed 6 people...(besides the bride, groom and the j. p.)

i dont know about where you live...

  5. This depends on the location. many allow guests but they may be limited by size of the room. Ask.

  6. Typically there's no limit, at least where I live.  Same dealio as any religious wedding.  They're the ones officiating the event, not dictating it.

    Enjoy your day!

  7. You can have a Justice of the Peace marry you anywhere, in front of as many guests as you would like.  So the number of guests depends on the location you choose.  If you are doing a "courthouse" type wedding, it depends on the space the department has provided for the wedding ceremonies, but there is usually enough space to invite a fair number of guests (up to 20, but again, depending on the building).

My sister just had a JoP wedding a couple weeks ago.  They had it at the Toronto Wedding Chapel (ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS LOCATION) which only fits about 20 guests.  But there were only 13 of us (that was all she wanted) so it was perfect.

A JoP wedding isn't any less of a wedding than one in a chapel, so you can invite as many people as your want, just find the right location!

    Good Luck!

  8. Hi.  I take it you mean...."can you have guests at a courthouse wedding?"  The answer is YES, but it depends on the courthouse that YOU are getting married at.  Some have large rooms (where I live), some don't.  So....call the courthouse that you will be getting married at and ask them.  That is the only way to know for sure.

    Hope this helps!  Good luck!
