i was on depo for 8 years and stopped this past demember. i have been getting hot flashes, cold chills, feels like i have fevers out of nowhere. up and down as far as my mood. its insane. im seeing a doctor tomorrow. but i feel like a mess and my primary doctor cant figure out whats going on. they have ran several tests and even scared me thinking i had cancer. everything has been good. but they cant explain why this is going on. the only meds im on now is metformin for diabetes. my diabetes is well controlled. great a1c. i have had a high white blood cell count for quite some time. could be anything like an infection. but my doctor cant figure out from what. been like this for 6 months and hasnt come down. what the heck is wrong with me lol!!

anyone with similar stories or problems? anything i should remember to ask my doctor?

  1. it's menopause..and no

  2. You are far, far too young for that.

  3. Metapause comes before Anapause right?  Your white cells are dividing at an alarming rate and making more.

  4. Sounds like your body is reacting to the change in hormones.  I found relief with herbs for adrenal support and acupuncture.  Your kidneys and adrenal glands can be severely affected by a drop in hormone levels.  I went thru "shock menopause" after a hysterectomy even though I still had my ovaries.  My ovaries had shut down and gone into "shock"....I found the herbs VERY helpful...takes about 3 weeks to kick in real good, but I got my ovaries working again.  The acupuncture might give you more immediate results....PS  I hate needles, but acupuncture is totally different and NOT painful.

  5. don't listen to anyone who tells you that you are too young to have menopause. you can and it is a problem. it is called peri-menopause or a symptom of PCOS. it is caused by a hormonal deficiency and it is something to be looked into. if you are nervous because you think you may have symptoms then get it looked into. i had the same doubts and i found out that i have PCOS and now i can't have children without a lot of help and medication. go to your doctor and get your hormone levels tested (ex. FSH, estradiol, estrogen, and testosterone).

EDIT: i think it does have something to do with the depo shot also. i was getting the shot for about a year and when i came off of it, i didn't get a period for a year and a half. please talk to your doctor. as soon as you can. once you develop PCOS it isn't something that goes away. it can only be monitored. get this book "It's My Ovaries, Stupid" by Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D. it really helped me. hopefully it will help you.

  6. No.  You are FAR too young to go through menopause.

The only chance of that is if you're going through post-surgical menopause, but that would be because you had a hysterectomy and would know.
