I am scheduled for a hernia repair on Monday and woke up yesterday feeling sick and feel worse today. I am just sneezing and my sinuses hurt. I don't want to reschedule my surgery as I am in a time crunch to have it completed before my kids go back to school. I have no fever...just a headache, stuffy nose, and feel down. Will they proceed? I may feel better by Monday...I have two days to rest and get better.

  1. It will depend upon whether you have a fever or not, what kind of anesthesia will be used and what kind of surgery you have planned.  Surgeons prefer to have their patients in optimum health.  If it is a viral illness, you may be feeling fine by Monday.  To be safe, why not get in touch with your general physician today and see what he/she says? Good luck.

  2. Sorry, but it's never a good idea to undergo surgery while you're sick. It increases the risk of complications because your inmune system is fighting the "virus". Surgery is always risky under the best of circumstances.

  3. they would wait. Cause that increases the chance of a deadly infection
