I travelled to Uk on Entry Clearance Visa as Spouse of my husband on 17th of October 2006, My Visa was issued on 25 September 2006? From which date do i count 2 years qualifying period? My Visa is about to expire on 25th September 2008. It is so confusing reading the application form guidance notes.

  1. The Visa which count is the one issued at point of entry, so count from the date your passport was stamped AT POINT OF ENTRY and you get when your visa will expire (If you got your visa at the point of entry on October 17th 2006 then it will expire October 16th 2008). Goodluck!

IF IN DOUBT CALL THE EMBASSY AND GET IT RIGHT FROM THEIR MOUTH, ASK FOR THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU SPOKE TO IN CASE OF ANY QUERY.

  2. from the dare of the official entry stamp.

  3. it is when the visa was issued NOT when you enter UK... in your case aug. 27, 2008 is the right time to submit you application.

before they count the qualifying period  when you enter UK...

  4. I am also on a spousal visa and from what I understand the visa expires the date it was issued.

    Direct quote:

You must not send us your application more than 28 days before the end of your two-year qualifying period. If you do, we may refuse your application with no refund of the fee. However, you must make your application before your current permission to stay in the United Kingdom expires.

So you have to do this before the 25 of September.

This is the form you will need.
