I've been a vegetarian for about 2 moths, but I really miss eating meat! I've considered quitting my vegetarianism (if that's a word). Does anyone have some motivation for me? or some really tasty meat substitutes???

Thanks =]

  1. There is a ton of fake meat out there, though I've heard that it's not so good (that's just rumors though). I haven't tried any of them. I'd suggest trying different kinds and see if you can find one you like.

Also, I find it helps to read some stuff or watch some videos. I don't know why you became a vegetarian, but that way you can remind yourself of why made this decision. If you became a vegetarian for ethical reasons, watch some PETA videos or so. That'll make you stay a vegetarian!

You might also want to get some vegetarian cookbooks (maybe from the library?). They usually have a ton of recipes that taste so good you won't miss your meat!

Finally, try and find some other vegetarians in your area so you guys can support each other.

    Good luck!

  2. remember about the poor innocent animals who are confused and everything, scared and stuff

  3. Morningstar farms chik'n patties

    Quorn renders

    Boca burgers

  4. What sparked your decision to become a vegetarian?  Are you doing it out of principal, health, what?  If you really like meat, you shouldn't give up something that you like.  You can eat meat in moderation and eat lean cuts, lots of chicken and fish, etc, if you are worried about health issues.

If you are really trying to quit, try eating mushrooms a lot.  I can't really explain it, but they are really a 'meaty' vegetable.  Try stuffed portabellos or something.

  5. Here are some web sites with some great vegan/vegetarian food.

http://silksoymilk.com -chocolate and chai flavors are good

    http://amys.com

    http://organicfoodbar.com

    http://gardenburger.com

    http://yvesveggie.com

    http://sunshineburger.com

    http://rightfoods.com

    http://veganstore.com -they have chocolate!

    http://nakedjuice.com

If you have a dog here is a site to get vegan dog food: http://www.v-dogfood.com/

    Here are some good recipes:

Stir fry- You need cut up tofu, soy sauce, olive oil, steamed veggies, and cooked rice

Get a frying pan and coat it with olive oil. The put the tofu in the pan and brown each side of it. Next, add the veggies. Add a little soy sauce and put in the rice. Mix everything up and then let it sit on the stove, occasionally stirring it to make sure it doesn't burn. After about a minute and a half of that put it in a bowl and enjoy!

Hummus- chick peas, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and any other spices/seasonings you like

Puree the chick peas. Then add a little lemon juice, paprika, pepper, and other spices. Then stir. Serve with a pita, with cucumbers, or on a veggie wrap.

Here are some snack and dinner suggestions:

    All natural popsicles

    Natural Valley bars

    Fruit Leather

    Silk Chocolate Soy Milk

    Naked Juice

    Apple chips

Dr. McDougall's Soups and Noodle Soups

    Soy Cheese Quesedillas

    Veggie Wraps

Whole foods is a great store for vegetarians/vegans, so I recommend grocery shopping there. You also can get a lot of the things I listed above there.

  6. there are a lot of meat subsitiutes. i made a really good burger out of black beans tonight

    mash cooked/canned black beans

steak sauce, make sure yours is veggie friendly

    dehydrated onions

    garlic seasoning

  7. There are tons of meat substitutes at the market. A few of my favorites are breakfast sausages from Morning Star, Boca burgers, and BBQ ribs from Morning Star. Go to the supermarket, in the frozen section there should be a few choices of meatless meats, shop around until you find your favorite.

  8. you could always become a part time vegatarian i rember in the latest isue of cosmogirl there was a whole article on it.

  9. I know vegans are different from vegetarians, we don't any animal product at all because of the horrible treatment of animals. I hope you can keep that in mind before deciding to go back to eating meat, like a lot of people have said there are some really great "mock" meats out there, you just have to find one you like! I recommend reading a book called Skinny ***** it explains a lot in there and its a real eye opener!!

    Good Luck

  10. I was a vegetarian for six years (UNFORTUNATELY I quit because of my boyfriend). At the very beginning it was really hard to stay away from meat so I know where you're coming from. Honestly I think of it the same as quitting anything else--meat is addictive--it just takes time to overcome the drive to eat flesh. I hate Boca burgers and after trying those, I didn't think I'd like ANY meat substitutes. Nevertheless, I tried some other Boca and MorningStar products (found at County Market and Super Walmart). My favorites were the "ground beef" and "buffalo wings" (dipped in ranch! Mmm!) Another good one are the "chicken" patties. The ground beef works best, though, to keep meals from becoming monotonous; you can use it in any meal you'd use real beef and *personally* I think it tastes even better! I still choose it over real beef whenever I can!

Also try to think about your health. Some may not care much or think that eating meat will affect you too much but it does! I was in the best shape of my life after being a vegetarian for six months. After stopping, though, I gained 70 lbs!

Watching videos on the PETA website can also help. There's one that I just cannot think of at the moment that really helped. Basically it was just a montage of animals being slaughtered that was music-video like. If I think of it, I will post the link!

Hope this helps a tiny bit!!

  11. try boca stuff and amys. all of it is so good!
