  1. You would probably find an answer on the environment section under green living.  Good luck.

  2. You can make an indoor composting bin out of recycled materials and composting worms, to compost all your junk mail and newspapers as well as all your kitchen scraps – so they do not go to the land fill.

Worms Eat My Garbage (Flower Press Publishing) by Mary Appelhof is a good starter book or you can check out the site:

    www.wormwoman.com

Whenever you get letters/flyers that only have writing on one side of the page, you can cut them into smaller sheets and use the back as scratch paper – by the phone – to put notes up on the fridge – for coloring with markers or crayons, etc.

Reuse plastic bags from the supermarket for other things or bring them back with you on your next shopping trip. If there is a “dog-run” near your home you can bring them all the plastic bags you collect. They can always be used by people who are picking up their dog p**p.

Or you can sew a cloth bag (or two) out of old clothes to bring with you when you go clothes shopping or to the supermarket.

Never throw anything away – that you think someone else might be able to use. Donate it or give it away to someone you know.

I once donated an old car to the Foundation for the Blind – I think they sell them as scrap metal and use the money to make books in brail.

Give that waffle maker you or your mom don’t use anymore to a friend.

There is always a “clothing drive” for coats; blankets and warm clothing in the winter – if you have items that you no longer use and are still in good condition – bring them to where they are given away to the needy.

Dilute your dish detergent a bit. It will last longer and works just as well as undiluted dish detergent. Buy a big refill bottle to fill up the one you keep by the sink – you will be using less detergent and throwing away less plastic.

When you buy six packs of soda and remove the plastic that holds them together – cut open all the circles of plastic before you throw it away - so if it gets into the natural environment it cannot get caught on the necks of swimming animals or birds – which end up chocking or starving to death (I know, this one is a little sad but it does happen).

These are a few examples of how you can help the environment. If I think of any more, I will post them.

    Good luck with your poster.

  3. Buy a bike!

Start eating local food like from the farmers market (if your area has one). Since it doesn't come from far away, it uses less gas to get to you.

  4. Good for you.  This website helped me:

  5. Since you're in the "garden and Landscape" forum, here's an article for going green in your garden:

  6. ok..use solar panels...catch rain water for water plants ..making a compost pile...in any search engine type in mother earth news..its a magazine they have tons of ideas there..good luck!
