My new housekeeper cleaned my tv screen with spray furniture polish (yes, there is a bit of a language barrier). It is just a regular screen. I have tried Windex, straight vinegar, and 409 to clean it, but it is stll a smeary mess. My s/o is having a seizure over this, as some kind of sports thing is on today. Please help restore peace in my household.

  1. there nothing get a new tv

  2. Clean it with a drop of dish liquid on a damp cloth then rinse with a damp cloth, then use windex & a paper towell...

  3. tell her you cant do that or tell not to clean the tv you would or you all ways could get a new house keeper or hire some thing like merry maid that way if the merry maid spray furniture polish on the tv you will get a new one because they have insurance im think you tv is a flat tv you all so could try pledge mutuality surface

  4. Have you tried Brasso(brass polish) and newspaper that should cut the oily film off the screen in no time, it works great on windows

  5. I would try Dawn dish soap...and warm water.  Honestly, the vinegar is good for cleaning glass, but it's probably just that there is too much oil on the screen.   Keep cleaning it, try newspaper instead of paper towels.  If you have a squeegie, that would probably be a good idea to use it.  Another thing you might try using is ammonia.  It's also good for cleaning glass.  And one more idea, if you happen to have any is Greased Lightening...it's the best grease remover I've ever used.

  6. try using goo gone and then windex....... and use a coffee filter, instead of a paper towel, when using the windex on the screen it helps clean it much better

  7. Use rubbing alcohol on soft cloth or paper towel!

    It is best for screens.

    No smears or streaks!

You may have to go over it a couple of times, but it works!

  8. Try a bit of baking soda, a drop of dishwashing liquid (Dawn if you have it) and rub on the screen gently.  Then rinse lightly with another dampened cloth.  If still on the greasy smeary side, now try the vinegar and NEWSPAPER trick to clean the screen.  Problem should be solved.  The baking soda will help absorb the oil AND the wax in the furniture polish and the soap will help break it down, leaving it now clean enough to now use the vinegar and newspaper to bring it back to its natural state.  Make sure you use VERY tightly wrung cloths, and if you have those micro-fiber cloths, even BETTER!  Hope this helps the s/o get a good look see on the TV.  Good luck!
