I know its late on the east coast, you have had dinner and you are probably having a life right now, but I am stumped. I am making cheeseburgers and cukes in sour cream, but I want to do something different with those old potatoes sitting on the counter. Can you offer me a suggestion, and a recipe? I'm in a 'slump'.

Thank you.. no go enjoy your night!!

  1. Peel, slice and boil just until for tender. Drain and toss with butter, salt, and fresh or dried parsley.

Just cook over very low heat with a little butter and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper.

  2. Here are two potato dishes I make all the time:

    Roasted potatoes

Take any type potatoes and cut into about 1/2 inch chunks along with a quartered onion, chopped garlic, salt, pepper, rosemary and any other seasonings you like.  Drizzle with olive oil and roast in a preheated 425 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    Boiled Irish Potatoes

Take new red potatoes and leave them whole or slice into chunks and place in heavily salted water and boil them until they are almost tender.  Drain off the water and then add in milk and butter to finish cooking them.  By the time the potatoes are tender the milk should have reduced and you have a nice sauce on your potatoes.

  3. Well what do you usually do? What if I recommend the same thing you always make? : )

Ok red potatoes, I would just halve or quarter them, drizzle them with olive oil, season with kosher salt, lemon zest, garlic, and black pepper and then roast them in a hot over (400ish).

You could also make salt potatoes - those are really good. Boil in a supersaturate salt solution, drain and toss with butter and fresh dill.

  4. slice them into thin circles. sprinkle with garlic salt, pepper and sprinkle w/cheese...parmesan, chedder, whatever....bake at 450 for about 10 minutes. check them as they cook fast. when done, top w/a dollop of sour cream....my exe's sister's boyfriend is russian & he told her how to make these. they're so good.

  5. Potato salad, scalloped potatoes, potato soup, etc.

    Go to: http://allrecipes.com/

You can do a search by ingredients, which is really helpful.  They have tons of great recipes and ideas.

  6. Clean them but don't peel them. chop them into wedges or large chunks. Toss on a large cookie sheet with a little olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and rosemary. Roast on 425 for about 20-25 minutes, turning them over after 10 minutes.

  7. Potatoes:- Hasselback

Peel potatoes and cut in half lengthways, the higher of the two ways.

Place flat side down and cut down to within 12mm (½”) of the face, 6mm (¼”) apart.

Brush with oil or melted butter and bake at 190C (375F) 45-50 minutes.

  8. Mashed Potatoes

2 pounds russet potatoes (about 4 medium), peeled and cut into large chunks

1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, plus more as needed

    4 cloves peeled garlic, smashed

    1/4 cup unsalted butter

    3/4 cup whole milk

    Freshly ground black pepper

In a large saucepan, combine the potatoes, 2 teaspoons salt, garlic and enough cold water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat to maintain a simmer and cook until fork tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and garlic leaving just enough water in the pan to cover the bottom.

Return the potatoes and garlic to the pan. Add the butter and mash until melted. In the microwave, heat the milk until just hot, but not boiling. Stir into the potatoes and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve immediately.

  9. rinse and microwave about five potatoes  till tender

about7 min for medium, 10 min for larger)

    put a small amount of oil/margarine/butter or bacon grease in a skillet on medium high heat ;

slice the potatoes a little less than half inch thick with a knife and fork

    (too hot to hold)

season and cook until golden brown on both sides

extremely tender and crispy, have with a rich sauce or just butter, touch of garlic sea salt

A healthier version rinse /microwave/slice as above, add salt/pepper

to potatoes, then place on foreman grill for approximately 6 minutes

(the grill marks crisp top and bottom quickly)

  10. Cheesy ranch potatoes.  Make your potatoes bit size and then boil them till they are done but NOT MUSHY!  Then, drain them and but them in a baking dish.  Use like, a cup of sour cream, a cup of ranch dressing and some bacon bits and cheese mixed together to spoon over them.  Top them with some more cheese and crushed corn flakes with butter.  Bake this for oh, 30 minutes and you have a yummy dish!

  11. don't peel

    slice or cube them

microwave for a min or two, still crunchy but not raw

    1-2 tbls olive oil

    1 garlic clove, minced

heat pan, add oil, when hot, add potatoes, when almost done add garlic and salt and pepper to taste.

  12. These are great

Sometimes I put a bit of olive oil in the bottom of the pan to
