Can you help me figure out this mystery bird?

As a baby about a foot or so and can get up to 4 feet tall... but most are 2 to 3 feet tall....

it sounds like a Greater Flamingo to me. i can't think of any other bird besides the Greater Flamingo with pink in it that fits the rest of the category.

if someone was close with "ugly duckling", it could also be a swan, though a swan doesn't quite fit all the categories.
