a) Specifically, what membranes are involved in this condition?

  1. Is this a homework assignment?

    If so, why not just search for "pleurisy" on the internet and research it for yourself.

    Short and sweet, the pleural membranes are involved (lining around the lungs), they work to slide over one another when the lungs expand and deflate, and it is painful when the membranes don't rub over each other smoothly.
