I'm trying to find a free knitting pattern for a bag with this general shape:

I'd like it to be felted, and a knitting pattern... but I can always learn to crochet, or change the pattern a bit to felt.

Thank you! I will pick best answer.

  1. Here is a bag that might work (it is felted) if you can change the handles.

Here's a nice one, but looks bigger than what you asked for...

This next one is two links so you don't have to search the picture page (linked to first) to find the pattern.  This is the closest to what you're looking for, that I can find.

  2. www.knittingpattern.com ;)))

  3. I can tell you the best places to look; hope that's helpful.  Go to www.lionbrand.com and/or www.coatsandclark.com (and/or any other yarn manufacturers' websites you can locate) and look through their patterns.  It may be called a shoulder bag or it may also be called a messenger bag.

Before I knew about these sites, I found many free patterns myself by going to Google and typing something like "knitting pattern free shoulder bag" into the search box.  Put the main nouns first and you'll get better results.  I found tons I was looking for that way.  They always ended up sending me to these other two sites, among others, so I look there first now.
