Question:

Can you help me identify my fish?

It's blue, about the size of my thumb, it has fins (I think there called that) from the top of its body and the bottom, and has two weird antenna like things sticking out of its front. I bought it at Meijer a little over a month ago and it's been living in my filtered 10 gallon tank ever since. Anyone have any clue as to what species of fish I have? I am curious because out of the 10 other fish I had in this tank over the past month, this is the only fish to have survived since day 1 when I first purchased my first fishes and the aquarium itself.

  1. Sounds like a dwarf gourami.  But like Cerri said, post a pict, it would help (photobucket is great).

But the 2 feelers make it a good guess at gourami.

  2. http://s132607273.onlinehome.us/ar/blogi...

if it looks like that then its a blue gourami

if it looks like that(it could be more blue) its a dwarf gourami.

If you post more info it would be very helpful

and if it looks like http://www.aqua-fish.net/imgs/fish/pictu...

its a pictus catfish, if it has different patterns its still likely a catfish

  3. Please stop killing fish!

Do you play drums for them too?

    And it's 'pectoral' not 'pectal'.

  4. could be a gourami... could you post a pic so we could see if possible?

  5. It is a gourami, probably a powder blue dwarf.

  6. I second that, a dwarf gourami

  7. well first you need to cycle the tank for at leat 30 days...and that might be the reason they died the tank was not ready for them! your fish could be an angel fish (if its very thin and slim it probably is an angel) or it could be a gourami

  8. Possibly a Betta Fish... they fight with other fish so it could have killed any others that you put in with it.

  9. ok here is a fish class for you the fin on the top of the fish is called the dorsal fin the to fins thet look like antenna are called pectal fins

the fin on the bottom of the fish to the back is called the anal fin and the one at the tail is called the tail lol anyway there are several fish that could fit your description could be a glowfish they come in several colors including blue same with bettas

but I am guessing you want to get some more since the others died which is fine but I think you should understand what caused them to die first based on your question I am guessing that you basicly setup the tank and added the fish withen days of setting the tank up

which means the tank wasn't cycled properly before adding any new fish test the water for ammonia and nitrite if either is above 0 the tank needs to finish cycling if they are both at 0 then the tank should be finished cycling which is the proble cause of the other fish dieing

and means if you slowly start replaceing them the new fish should be fine
