Question:

Can you help me override text on Microsoft Word?

most computers/programs will allow you to overwrite text with the "insert" button (above the "delete" button). For example, if i type the word dog but i want it to say cat - i can place my courser in front of the d and type c and it will then read cog, then type a and it will read cag, and so on.

my office installed new microsoft word 2007 (we were working off of 95, yikes!) and we cannot seem to be able to override/type over. when we hit "insert", nothing happens. has anyone had this problem and can anyone help? is there a setting in word that we have to manually enable first or something?

THANKS

  1. Try this:

    1. Click the Office Logo in the upper-left corner.

    2. Click the Word Options button.

    3. Click the Advanced item on the left-hand pane.

    4. Click the Use Insert Key To Control Overtype Mode checkbox.

    5. Click OK.

That will put the Insert key back into the mode you're used to seeing it in.

    Hope that helps.
