  3. I'd go for names not super common.  Stay away from names like Madison, Isabella, Emily, Alexis, Alex, Jacob, Josh, Michael, Evan, etc

  4. Here are the golden rules of naming: http://www.storknet.com/babynames/ruleso...

Finding a name that you truly love takes a lot of work and research. Each person has their own taste in names. While one person may go for a name like Caleb Nathaniel, another will go for a name like Jayden Zaine. It's all down to personal preference, and, of course, what sounds good with your surname.

I'll tell you some of my favourite baby names, and give you links to websites that have helped me choose these names. For girls I like the names Lucy Adelaide, Hazel Emmeline, Alice Rosalind and Ivy Juliet. For boys I like the names Frederick August and Alasdair Henry. Not everyone will like these names, but I love them.

Here are some resources to help you find names:

http://www.nymbler.com/  - suggests names according to your own personal taste.

http://www.thinkbabynames.com/  - has information on baby name origins, trends and meanings.

http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/index.html  - Always has interesting articles on naming. There is a particularly helpful article about middle names, which I'd recommend you take a look at.

http://www.babynamer.com/  - An up to date and helpful naming resource. One of the most accurate websites for name meanings.

http://www.behindthename.com/  - This site has a wide variety of features. You can search for names via meaning, find the origins of names, a names popularity and other fun stuff (like 'twin names', 'random renamer' etc).

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/  - An American website that has lists of names according to decade. It's fun to take a look at all of the names popular in the 1880's. However, don't use this site as the bible of baby names, as the popularity of names vary from country to country. For instance, while Lachlan has never been a common name in the US, it is ranks at #4 in popularity here in Australia.

http://www.babynamemap.com/  - An excellent resource for those who wish to find out the popularity of names worldwide.
