  5. The United States in the 1950s was certainly the right place and the right time for the Beatniks to rebel against conformity and traditional social patterns. Even today one could easily find conformity in the social patterns and rightly rebel against them.

    The National Guardsmen at Kent State , OH, shot four unarmed demonstrators who opposed not only the war in Vietnam but the bombing of Cambodia too.

    The purpose of the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty was for the superpowers to reach an agreement relating to - arms control!
