ok so... im 16 years old and i can run a mile in 4:37. thats without any speed training. just from running distance. i know the worlds fastest mile was 3:43 and you can tell me i cant do it all you want but im gonna try to beat that. whats involved in improving your mile time? the basics? the details? the weird stuff thats helped you? anything at all that would put a few seconds on my mile. thanks!

  3. d**n man that's really fast for a 16 year old kid.. u gotta keep up the good work.. u definitely beat my mile time but i was more a long distance runner.. all i can say is endurance speed training is important by running a lot of miles at a fast pace.. also sprint training doing 300m then joggin 100m then doing 300m all at 5-6 minute mile pace and see how many u can do.. also sprinting up hills builds leg strength and definitely increases the amount of time u can keep up your speed.. umm nutrition is important ... rest.. d**n 4:37 to 4:00 is a stretch for now but maybe after a few months u could get there.. definitely if u keep training by the time u r 18-19 u will improve by a lot.. possibly under 4 mins.. pushups and situps also help a lot.. in all sprinting+long runs r crucial.. change it up.. see what fits u.. train with your school's team, etc..
