Can you help me sew a doggie bed cover, please?

I purchased the fabric and it said it was 60" wide, but when I got home, I discovered that it's not. (GRRR!) I was going to just cut the fabric in half, stitch it together quick like, and make a pillow case (so to speak). Now, I'll have to sew an insert around the perimeter to compensate for the depth of the foam and I can't figure out how to do it when it comes to sewing the corners together, or in which order I should sew each piece. Does that make sense? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. and thank you in advance.

  1. Sounds like you want to make a box cushion.

  2. The easiest way I can think of is to put the foam in the middle of the fabric so you have big flaps on either side.  Now I will usually sew one edge all the way across.  That will be your outside one and you will fold it over first.  Fold the other side over so it goes over the finished one. Then sew the outside edges together.  It should make a hidden pocket to put the foam in.  If the foam is too large use a bread knife and round off the edges a bit.  Good luck!

  3. What you need to find are the instructions for sewing in a GUSSET. I have heard there are videos on Youtube, or try the library for basic sewing books.  Not hard to do
