Can you help me shop for subwoofers?

I want really good subwoofers and i dont know how to really look for them! Some people told me to look for the frequency responce (the lower the better) such as "18hz to 200hz" or "20hz to 200hz" and then some people told me to look at the watts such as 1,500 watts (the more the better) Can someone just tell me how to look for them? I looked for subwoofers with the advise of the frequency responce and found 2 (rockford fosgate T1's)-20hz to 200hz and also (infinity kappa perfect 12.1D's)-18hz to 200hz. I'm looking for extreme real deep base and really clear base in a 12"

om pounding 2 12w1 JL audio and they pound the c**p out and are deep and clear they hit so hard that my rearview mirror keeps getting loose and twice just feel off you can get each speaker at about around 100.00 each if i ever blow them i will continue to buy jl

subs will tell you the RMS wattage, and the PEAK wattage.rms is the REAL  continual wattage. peak is just when there is an extreme load on the woofer.

they also come in 2ohms, and 4ohms. you want to get 4ohms handled subs so you can tune it to 2ohms with your amp. 2ohms will make it so the sub and amp work harder and will make more BASS!

its true about the frequency, but dont worry SO much about it.

if you want a lot of BANG (or BOOM) for your buck, get alpine type r's 12 inch. these things have 500 RMS watts...but most people give em 700 watts! and they dont blow!.

they are cheap, reliable, well known, and good subs

the infinitys are okay, and so are the rockford fosgates...but id suggest alpine or kicker.

p.s.. if you want DEEP LOW bass...i suggest 15 inch subwoofer. 12 inch would get you those lows, but if you just want the killer ones, get 15 inches. but youd be very happy with 12 inch alpine type r's. also, i suggest going to car toys or best buy and bring your ipod and plug it in to one of their cd players, and play your music! hear those subs. see what you like. ask them what youre looking for. theyll help.
