When i switch over to my cable box on my tv,i can see images from another channel behind it.Surely it can't be the aerial as its receiving pictures from the cable.Does anyone know whats causing it and could it be a faulty scart socket on the tele?

  1. Hmm, if you're seeing two pictures occuring on CABLE....

Then the FIRST question I have to ask is this.....

DO YOU use an outdoor aerial/indoor aerial with a POWER amplifier on one input and the cable on the other???

Then you're pumping some serious RF signal into that TV set !

If that is the case, unplug the aerial amplifier and see if the Ghost-Signal disappears...and if so, lower the gain (db ) on that power amp......

Now if you ONLY have the Cable box, then CABLE has a problem....

You might be too close to one of their power amps, and you need an attenutator attached to your cable line.....

    Call the Cable company.....

I GUESS it could be possible for an SCART socket to BLEED a signal into the picture...but first you would have to have another picture source that is ACTIVE....IOW you need your DVD player/VCR or something else turned on and delivering a signal to that SCART....

And all you have to do to VERIFY that is to turn off any active sources and see if that GHOST disappears....

If it does, then you need a Tech to replace the Input switch in your TV set.....

  2. It sounds like you have a signal bleeding through. Even though coax cables are shielded they still do leak signal. I agree with one of the other posters in that the signal must be strong. Disconnect the aerial to see if it IS the problem

To help reduce or eliminate bleeding keep cable runs short and direct. Don't bundle the cables. If your cable box has another output channel, try that channel (it may be further from the second frequency you are receiving). If you are using a signal amplifier, remove it. These often can cause trouble.

  3. That could be something known as "ingression".  Basically a leak in the cable system that's allowing over the air signals to enter the system.  I've also see the set itself pick up signals in very strong signal areas.  You need to call your cable company and report this.

  4. malfunction of the cable that comes from the antenna or check one of the cables look all of them no solution call cable company
