Question:

Can you help me with a conundrum?

I recently answered a question here, the question was,

"If a teenager kills a person should he/she be punished in the same way as an adult is ?". http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my;_ylt=ApCx_3ZQUO3p92HWBVfIIB3sy6IX;_ylv=3?link=answer&bestansfilter=1#anslist

This got me thinking. Many of the answers had to do with yes, because they know what is right or wrong. My answer is the best answer. And I decided to go against the crowd in the name of true freedom. But even so, Many cultures have a different view of right and wrong. And I myself happen to believe there is no such thing as right and wrong.

Think of Cannibals. They see it as right, and the majority of everyone else see it as wrong. Many murderers are probably the same way.

I just think society should live in respect of each others beliefs. If we can justify war then we can justify murder. I myself am not a supporter of murder, but I think everyone should express themselves. I frown upon infringing another mans right to live. But we also have the right to do anything. Because we can.

I doubt many of you agree with me. But you should all know where I am coming from, and understand.

So my question. What do you think? And please do not yell at me, or call me a moron.

  1. From what I've read, it is clear to me that you DO believe in right or wrong. You said that it is right for people to respect each other, you said that it is wrong for people to murder each other, and you said it is wrong to infringe upon another man's right to live. So you contradicted yourself by saying that you don't believe in right or wrong; it is clear that you do. We all do. For we all like some things, and we all hate somethings. In regards to the question "if a teenager kills a person should he/she be punished in the same way as an adult is?"- you already know the answer to this question- just search your heart- what you feel the answer to this question is, IS the answer. I never understood why people ask questions of what is good and what is bad, when they already know the answer for themselves; when they have values/attitudes of their own. Do you not love and hate things? If yes, then you already know what is good and bad, or whether or not a teenager should be punished for a crime. Just search your heart for the answer.

  2. Think about what?

  3. You said;

    "Many cultures have a different view of right and wrong. And I myself happen to believe there is no such thing as right and wrong.

    Think of Cannibals. They see it as right, and the majority of everyone else see it as wrong. Many murderers are probably the same way."

    What you are referring to is duality. However in a society where it is against the law of society to eat human flesh, it tends to lean towards wrong. One country's hero act is another country's terrorist incident.

  4. Your Not a moron. Sounds like you are touching on mans most primal rule , Survival of the fittest. Actually its the worlds most primal rule, from animals to plants. The strong will always concur the week Unless an outside influence is involved. In regards to humans, it's a particular cultures idea of Morality that usually prevents the strong from just taking from the week. Animals or should I say Non human animals have no such restriction. They see, they want, they take. Why do you think "civilized" people sometimes call murderers or gang bangers "animals"?  no sense of moral self control. You think total freedom to live as we wish would be nice? well look around, see the guy next to you? can you take him? if not than consider yourself luck because if you cant than your wife would be his, your kids and your life ,would be his. Until the next, bigger stronger animal comes along..

  5. You are very close to having a cojent thought, but not quite.

    You have some idealized dream world that you inhabit.  That's nice.  Too bad it has nothing to do with anything rational or any societal aspect that actually exists.

    Put down the bong and spend some time in the real world.
