Question:

Can you help me with a poetic question?

Yesterday I wrote a poem deliberately misspelled and mispunctuated. The purpose was to illustrate literacy problems in modern writers. The question was deleted. Can anyone tell me what I could possibly have done wrong?

  1. Double check the community guidelines  or ask this question on the Yahoo forum. The answers there are more to the point when you are trying to figure out the mechanics of Yahoo Answers.  The suggestions there also may be more helpful.

  2. Sorry to hear that, I read the question and thought it clever,

humorous, with some interesting replies. All one could guess

is maybe a young troll who did not agree, what else could matter to anyone. Win some loose some, not worth to fret.

    Blessings

  3. Ask the question in a different manner, so that the it will have an actual answer capability.  Been there, done that.

  4. I'm not sure,

and that's not against the guidelines in any way

    SO LONG

as it was a question, a solicitation for advice/criticism, or a request for editing help

    Not a statement.

    but I agree, modern 'writers'

    it seem

    have substituted e-literacy for literacy.

and some don't even have that--and are just plain illiterate.

    *sigh*

  5. Shucks.  I wish I didn't miss it.

  6. Hi, Elaine,

I wonder if some-one was made to look really foolish, because they were lured into a trap (ie they actually believed what you had written was genuine) so to cover their embarrassment they reported it as a violation.

Don't be too concerned - I am as innocent as the day is long, but I have had four/five violations so far.  One of which I queried - only to be bluntly told to read the rules and yahoo's terms of service (this is a 9 page document of small print, which I couldn't be bothered to read)

We aren't existing in a democracy on Answers.yahoo - I will say no more since that may be considered a violation.

Brush it aside and soldier on, or start looking elsewhere (www.neopoets.com seems a good place)

  7. You've been around here enough to understand that process of TROLLS!!!  I don't like them or understand why or how they do what they do but they just do!!!  I believe that we all should be entitled to our own opinions and be able to freedom of expression.  BUT.....we have those few who boost themselves above us and consider themselves "judges".  They give thumbs down, they report and are cruel and incorrect in their manner of reporting.  They have nothing more important to do with their lives than to make others (so they think!!!) miserable!!!!  What they fail to realize that karma is real and that it comes back 100 fold!!!  You my dear did nothing wrong.  It was the troll who chose to report you!!!  If we ignore them their power will be diminished and eventually they will disappear into thin air ~ poof!!!!

  8. I enjoyed your poem with such great laughter. That was so

cute an opposite of what you usually write. It takes a lot to

make me laugh. I`m giving you a star for your beautiful work.

It`s amazing the comments some of these stalkers get away

with. You actually have to report them before any action gets taken. You write a cute poem for a giggle and It gets deleted.

Not only do the stalkers do us wrong, but so do the censers

I`m behind you all the way Elaine P.

  9. Try reposting but with a different title.  I did and the trolls stayed away.

  10. Sense of humour? Some people don't like it round here....

I am sorry it was deleted. It is totally unfair.

  11. There are reporters everywhere who manifest on the deletion of questions and answers.

I apologize for the wrongdoings of my Yahoo counterparts.

  12. That sucks Elaine.  It was a very stimulating piece which is why the poem got such a great response.  Because it's how we all feel in this poetry section about the AWFUL writing posted here.

I'd say whoever was offended enough to report, probably needed to be offended.

I, for one, am not going to spend any more of my personal time on a poem that is riddled with misspellings, poor grammar; no punctuation.

It will just be ignored and I will move on to other poems written by folks who can at least write and spell above a 2nd grade level.

In my opinion there's a vast number of submissions that I feel are worthy of a helpful hint here and there, just a little more work to make them really shine.

Some, are so poorly written as to show the obvious illiteracy of the poster, these just don't warrant my time.  Being ignored can be a wake up call without investing time better invested in those who are seriously making effort.

Ignorance is its own reward..... silence.

Sorry about your violation.  I thought the poem was quite astute and I had great fun posting my response to it.  At least you have the support of your peers here in this section.

  13. there are some trolls who like causing problems by reporting harmless questions

so i dont think u had asked anything wrong

what i feel is that the troll realised that u had asked a good question and thus decided to report it

chill it happened to me too

dont worry cheer up and hav a gr8 day

  14. I am shocked Elaine.....it was one of the best things i read here...and no poem made me laugh as much as that piece...may be a green eye or troll did that...but yahoo could delete it from their page only...not from our hearts...whoever who read it will remember that short and beautiful poem...but it is just wierd that yahoo!answers wont respect even the question of a top contributor...or they may be people from antarctica with frozen sense and chilled eyes...
