the riddle is that how many (shortest) ways can you get from the start to the finish.

There are 3 segments move from left to right: A, B, and C.

Let us mark them as A1 to A4 ( from top),  B1 to B4 and C1-C4.

There are 4 ways for A1-B1. 3 for A1-B2  2 fro a1-b3, 1 for A1-B4.

Total 10 ways for taking A1. and then 6 for A2, 3 for A3, and 1 for

A4,

So, sum them up to 20 shortest ways.
