Question:

Can you help me with finger food that needs very little preparation?

We're having a party at the end of July. In the afternoon when we have close friends and family coming we're having a fairly traditional buffet.

In the evening we have lots of friends coming and we want to provvide finger food. The thing is, I don't want to be doing loads of prep halfway through the party. I was thinking of doing something which can be prepared in advance, plated up and then served cold in the evening. We have a few ideas but if anyone has done this before or has some novel ideas I'd be really grateful. Thanks.

  1. We often partied at the end of a wharf on 7/4 so we wanted to have refreshing and easy appetizers.  All were made other

places and stored in an ice-chest or cooler.

I've found a few of the recipes and included the sites below.

    PHILADELPHIA® Creamy Tortilla Roll-Ups

    Flavor Infused Cream Cheese Nibbles

Tortellini Kabobs (Just marinate cooked, store bought tortellini, spinach or cheese filled,  in your favorite bottled Italian dressing.  Then, skewer on toothpicks with slices of pepperoni, olives, provolone, grape tomatoes.  Put in a plastic, covered bowl or dish and refrigerate until time to serve.)

  2. Hi,

I was thinking you could get some Cocktail Sausage Rolls, Pie's and Pasties. You could also add Spring Rolls to this list. I know these have to be served hot but you just put them in the oven and the take them out and put them on a plate.

Sandwiches are also easy to prepare before, also crackers and dips. Cucumbers, Tomato's, Celery and Carrots are good finger food.

    Hope I helped...

  3. Deviled eggs

    Chips and dip

    Pretzels

    Chips

    Pigs in a blanket

    Crackers and cheese, pepperoni..ect.

    Vegetable tray(carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, celery)

    Fruit tray(watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, strawberries)

    Tiny lunch meat sandwiches

  4. You can make tea sandwiches (cucumber, watercress or tomato).  I would make them the day ahead; put in a tupperware container; cover with saran & a very well wrung-out damp paper towel & cover with the tupperware lid & refrigerate .......  Mini quiches or quiche squares that are served room temp (can make the day ahead) ....  Spinach Dip from the Knorr vegetable soup mix, but put the dip into a hollowed-out sourdough round; cover with foil and refrigerate overnight .......

  5. Save your self some time and energy.  Go to Sam's club, BJ's  Wholesale, or Costco.   They have mini appetizers that all you have to do is pop them in the oven and set them out.  and their mini desserts aren't bad either.     By you having the event in earlier in the day trust me you will be tired by the evenings end and don't want to go through all that preparation.

  6. cubes of cheddar cheese and bite size pineapple on a toothpick..
