  1. you can sell anything, clothes if a common size sells but most of the times clothes doesn't sell as much as nick knacks,

keep everything organized, they best idea that i like is sell a plastic bag for 3-5 dollars and tell them whatever they can fit in there. or if you want you can Price EVERYTHING, but do not use the little stickers those are easy to peel off and re stick on other things. your not a store your a garage sale so make deals!! and be very friendly!! i hope that this little info help you good luck with your sale!

  2. you can sell whatever you want I went to one once and the person was trying to sell a Rolls Royce (I am not being funny). On your price put 70% off so that customers think they are getting a good price. Actually make your prices on the expensive side. Also do not price in whole dollars and do not carry change with you. Many customers when confronted with the seller not having change will just say keep the change. Also note that since you do not have to worry about repeat business (unless you have many yard sales) you do not have to worry about customer service. In fact many yard sale buyers get suspicious if you act nice. Also note that new products do not sell good because buyers think if you are selling something new the price must be expensive. I have noticed that it makes sense to break a new product just a little or to dirty it up a bit and it will sell quicker.

Hopefully the above advice will get you on your way to wonderful world of yard sales.

  3. Always give them a choice, once they are in the process of choosing between this or that, then you have a sale. Remember it is a yard sale not a resale store, so take a loss with lots of little sales and don't try and make you retirement all in one sale. Have fun and enjoy talking to people, Be hospitable and let the kids sell lemon aid and Ice tea for a quarter. and give away what you know won't sell as you go through your day, don't worry you can buy it back next year down the street and another yard sale, everything just goes from yard to yard lol!!

  4. Sell anything and everything!  Make sure everything is priced, I use the string tags as the don't come off like the stick on tags do when it is humid out.  Most important of all ADVERTISE in your local paper and all free ad papers.  Be sure the way to your yard sale is marked well, I use signs and balloons plus give directions and address in your ad. List main large items that you are selling as well as clothing sizes. Make sure you have enough cash to make change with, bills and coins.  If you can hang any clothes that you are selling this is a plus, you won't have to keep straightening up tables and sorting sizes which is a nightmare.  Keep everything neat and organized, glassware together, kitchen items together etc.

Be friendly and have fun, mark stuff a little higher than what you will take for it so you have room to barter a little, but don't price it so high that people won't make a offer.

    Good Luck

  5. Sell all the c**p you have.  Hire a dumpster to put all the c**p you don't sell.
