  1. Hmmm. IDK. Try moving his food to another area in the house.

  2. If your cat and sniffles were close or used to each other, it is likely your kitty is missing his companion.  Cats are extremely intelligent animals with a variety of personalities and emotions.  The sudden disappearance in his brother may leave him feeling a little lonely, and this may be him feeling a little strange being alone.  Try keeping him close to you for a while, keep him in your room at night and promote nighttime cuddling as you sleep.  Giving him some love will hopefully help him put his loneliness to rest.  Also, it may not hurt to get him a new companion, a younger sibling perhaps?

My cat fez was an older cat we had adopted, and my cat merlin was displaying this behavior when we had to let his older brother fez go (the two met when merlin was a kitten.) His spot however was the laundry room. I even had to move his food bowl down there because he wouldn't come up to eat if the house had people in it or if we were awake. shortly after that, I acquired a domesticated exotic Kitten as a pet, and soon he stopped this detached behavior and began to care for this kitten, transferring almost immediately from younger brother to older brother in a matter of weeks.  Soon the two were inseparable inside and outside, and the kitten was constantly groomed and adored by my cat merlin.

  3. is it hot in your house? sometimes the tile floor in a kitchen is cool and they like that. do you have carpet or wood floors, maybe he just doesn't like the flooring. is he limping or anything? maybe you have a mouse or bug or something in the kitchen and he's keeping watch. try enticing him with treats and toys in other parts of the house. patience is the key with kitttys

  4. Jinx is probably still waiting for Sniffles  to come home and Jinx wants to be sure he is there for Sniffles.

I know three weeks sounds like a long time, but you have to remember Jinx lost his best friend.  Everything in due time.  Jinx is mourning his loss.  It may take him longer than some other cats.

Eventually Jinx will come around.  Give him time to get used to the loss of his buddy.  Then you might consider getting another buddy for Jinx.
