I have an essay to do for summer school. I really cant fail again or I will get held back, so PLEASE help with any grammar or content issues!!!! The topic is comparing the civil war to the current iraqi war.

The civil war and current iraq war were at different times, but is that all that is different about them? Well no. Civil war soldiers faught with hand grenades, smaller tanks, and through damaging radio waves. Specifically ones that honed in on the enemy brain and made them think "hey, why dont i shoot my frand?" In the iraq war they have b52 bombers and the unibomber, along with microcosims. But is that all they have in common. This time, the answer is a resounding YES! If you take the name of Saddam L. Hussein and rearange it you get the initials A.L. aka, ABE LINCOLN. Coincidence? I think not. At the time of their death, they both had a LOT of facial hair. It is with that evidence that I hypothesis that the iraqi's are evolution descendants of abe lincoln

  1. Type the thing on either word or works and hit the spell check.  Frand is not how you spell friend.

I would agree with the other  responder you need to focus on the facts and not so much your opinion.

War is.....(find definition).  The civil war held during....(dates) and the current Iraq war that started....(date) are....(how many years apart).  Although there is a large number of years that have past between them there are a lot of similarities.  Both wars have taken family members away from their families.  They have challenged a countries definition of freedom. .....perhaps another example.  Even though these wars have similar qualities there are also differences.  The civil war....had....and #2 and #3.  The Iraq war could be seen as being more advanced because they have #1, #2 and #3.  Even though there are similarities and differences with the wars the fact remains that war has been a difficult time for the cultures and societies they involve.

  2. This is about all I would keep of what you have written so far:

The Civil War and current war in Iraq have taken place at different times in history.  But is that all that is different about them?  Civil War soldiers fought with hand grenades and small tanks, which were the most modern technologies available at that time.  Today it is the same with the technologies used in the war in Iraq, although technology is much more advanced.

You need to work on the rest.  It's nonsense that is not very well thought out, is not very well written, and sounds as if you don't take the assignment seriously.

You might discuss how the American Civil War was an internal war which started because of conflicts within our country, while the war in Iraq is a civil war which originated largely from pressures outside their country.  Research and discuss what these specific issues were.

You can also discus how the American Civil War was not about religious differences.  It was partly about different societal beliefs and values, and it was partly an economic problem.  The war in Iraq is largely a war about religious differences, although economic issues also play a part.

Again, research what the American societal beliefs and values were at the time that caused conflict.  Also research what religious differences are taking place in Iraq, and also what economic pressures the country there is facing.

  3. Well...... I liked the first part. However, the part about Hussein and Lincoln being related seemed pretty far out here. I say drop all of that, and focus more on proven facts. For example, you could compare techniques used by the different armies. Did the Confederates use the same methods our soldiers in Iraq use? Or you could mention how both wars were fought over government and control. Or compare leaders. Pretty much anything, as long as you can back it up. Don't make a large fraction of your essay an opinion. ("Iraqi's are descendants of A.L.") Oh, and by the way, you may want to have someone spell check it. For example, it's fought, not "faught". And friend, not "frand". And, make sure you watch your punctuation.
