Can you help me with my floors?

I have just installed Bamboo flooring which doesn't have a finish and I am having a hard time finding a cleaner for it. I bought Murphy's oil soap and it cleans it but doesn't do any shine. I also bought mop and glo but that left a bad residue on the floor. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  1. Should have done some research before destroying your bamboo floor . Never put anything wet on the floor . A broom is all you need . It should have been treated before you damaged it beyond replacement.

Ahh.... the simple buy something at the store that works on everything

approach . Hope you didn`t damage to much of it. Btw , laminate and hardwood also don`t like water.

  2. BAMBOO flooring?!?  Did you install it yourself?  Where did you buy it?  Is the bamboo split half-way or quarter-way open and glued to a common plank of some sort for laying on the floor?  I've never had any experience with such flooring.  Hopefully, the dealer from whom you bought the flooring can give you all the instructions you need -- or perhaps, he/she can recommend a flooring craftsman that you can employ.  Good luck!

  3. I'm not specifically familiar with bamboo, but with most woods you need to apply a finish (either oil or a surface finish such as varnish) to make them shine.  You might check with your local hardware or paint store for specific recommendations.

  4. you will have to put a finish on the floor.  Anything you use to clean it is just going to sink in and develop stains and discoloration over time

  5. You will probably need to put some type of polyurethane finish on the floor - if there is any discoloration from water, you could stain it first.  Just make sure it's dry before you finish it.  Also, look for water-based, low (or no) VOC products - they are better for your health.

Check with the manufacture on specifics for cleaning.

Also, see the following web pages on Bamboo flooring:

    Hope this helps.
