  1. take a cook or d**k in yuor hand and paint.

  2. It's actually very much better than I could ever do. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that, so it's not saying much. You are very talented.

One thing I do see, is the jacket needs more highlighting. It's too heavy. It needs more depth.

  3. That is excellent!

  4. Kris, you have real talent. I'm not conversant with computer drawing and shouldn't get in this...but...to improve your work study anatomy for the artist. No matter your medium it will help you to see what is under the skin.

  5. It's lovely.  I do all my drawing and painting the old fashioned way:  with pencils, brushes, and so forth.  But the same principles apply either way.

I do suggest, however, that you add a little interest to the background and to the black garment. (I like the background, by the way;  it just can't compete with the more complicated parts of the image.) All the focus is on the face and hair, and the rest is simply not as interesting.  I guess you probably want the focus to be on the face and hair, which is fine, but from a design standpoint, the whole area is important.  The way I look at my own work is to ask myself, "If this were a totally abstract piece, would it still be interesting?"  In other words, are the shapes, colors, patterns interesting?  Does the design stand on its own independent of the subject?  Sometimes it helps to look at the image sideways or upside down, to see if the design is still strong in those positions.

A technical note:  are the ears set a tiny bit too far back?  (unless that's the way elf ears grow?!)   Very cool ears, though!

I love the way you put the shine in the eyes.  And lovely coloring!  Nice shadows, too.

By the way, I'm pretty sure only another artist would care if the whole design works well.  Most non-artists only see how well the image resembles what it's intended to represent.

All that notwithstanding, it is a really lovely image.  I'm just nitpicking here, one artist to another.

    Anyhow, best of good luck!
