I have a 6000 vinyl pool that is never sparkling clean. I test it every other day. This week all levels are good except for Free Chlorine is too high. What can I do to get rid of the greenish water that is getting darker by the hour. I n the moring it's clear but there is sediment on the bottom. If I try to lift & skim the sediment the whole pool gets cloudy. I've already changed out the filter and I've been shocking it once a week, but still no clear sparkling water.!!!????What's wrong??

  1. if you see black spots in the morning at the bottom, you have algae growing in your pool. to get rid of it, take a chlorine tab and scrub off the algae. your pool should start becoming sparkling.

  2. its broken

  3. Take a sample of water to your local pool supply dealer.  They can do more tests than the home kits can provide, probably free of charge.  Likely they'll recommend some stabilizer and possibly an algecide.  It sounds like you have what's called mustard algea - a yellow-green algae that doesn't grow in spots and doesn't attach to the sides/bottom very strongly.  Also, you didn't mention Ph - that's an important factor too and needs to be maintained.
