  1. welll i guess you learned your lesson in picking colors that wont get old! ha, i thinkorange and pink is a cute theme. but maybe get rid of the surfer theme by buying a new comforter set and sheets that arent beachy.

as for accessories, i suggest throwing in some greens and maybe yellows......or blue too! orange is a good color :]

maybe you could lay down a rug over your orange carpet thats more neutral? so that it wouldnt be so much of that color. you could also paint your room a light blue or light green. i think you should use the sherwin williams color finder.

there's lots of things you can do. just introduce different colors to balance out the amount of orange in your room and you should be fine :]

    hope i helped.

  2. I think you could do a Moroccan/Arabian theme with the orange carpet. Buy beaded curtains, rich jewel-toned bedding & tons of throw pillows, like this:

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a sandy wall color like "dry dock" (# 7502) would go well with a Moroccan theme.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  3. You could get some muted oranges in there -and darker oranges like rust.  Turquoise goes really well with the orange palet.  You could go for a modern, simplistic look with fun colorful shapes and designs.

Or you could go Shabby Chic with a colorful twist. (Search it on the web, mostly Shabby Chic is a white color style, but if you add color it makes it a more up to date, "in"design!

Keep in mind the torquoise color as your accent color for either design style.

  4. how about going with just white all over.  wood trim, doors, window & treatment, everything.  clean, simple and fresh.  if the carpet is still too bright, buy an area rug to go over the top in a sitting or desk area to calm it down.  only thing is.....your room MUST stay clean to keep that calm, fresh look.  oh, and the area rug should also be white or cream.  if you want to add a 'touch' of orange in a pillow or lampshade, feel free.  see how fresh and relaxing it becomes.  but keep it clean!!  have fun!
