Can you help me with my study habits?

i can pay attention but certain things take me FOREVER to understand, and when i get confused my mind drifts. when i have hw on the computer i tend to log on aim and check myspace first. before i know it its 2 am and i am trying to write a 5 paragraph essay. i am bad at studying too. im aiming for straight a's. any advice??

Been there and done that hun. Sometimes the brain can't see on a white page. The problem isn't that you are dumb, it might be that your brain is wired differently.

I know about this because when I went to college they tested me for a learning disability only because I did great in all subjects except math. After extensive testing, it turned out that I was actually gifted, but I had a mild form of dyslexia called perceptual distortion. On a white page, it took my brain forever to understand somethng. But when a nice green overlay was put over it, I could see everything clearly and QUICKLY. My brain was using all my energy just to process what it was I was trying to read.

So I found out that it's a visual thing, check out the websites. It's known as Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome, no big deal. One lady at my college had to take all her tests on purple paper in a separate room with the lights low.

That was the heavy stuff, and guess what? You may not have that. But check out the websites. You may have never learned how to study, like me. Everything came easy. Talk to the students who you feel comfortable with and ask them what they do to study, and read things from other students here on YA.  If you have to study on the computer, schedule yourself and give yourself lots of breaks, so you can go walk around and not go to myspace. Come on, you can do that LATER.
