Sounds really fun! When I was little, I loved watching reruns of I Dream of Genie - I would have loved this room! How bout some bed netting to create a canopy/genie bottle effect (they sell it at Target.com or if you google it there should be a number of other retailers). Then lots of little throw pillows in colors like pink, red, and gold. Worldmarket.com has a lot of Indian-looking throw pillows that might work. All the velvet and silk you can muster would be great. For curtains, you could either do something really sheer and airy in a light color like pink, purple, or aqua, or a rich velvety fabric. Then for furniture, I'd keep it fairly simple unless you can afford antique-y, curvy, genie bottle furniture. For decorations, you could frame pictures of exotic surroundings, like photos of camels riding through the desert or jungle animals. Or you could put up photos of palaces like the Alhambra or those in India or the middle east. You could buy or paint frames gold and also paint the trim of the room or the girl's bed in gold. you should paint the walls like a deep pink, purple or orange,

and then do (or have someone) paint a genie bottle on one of the walls,

and hang fake jewels and little mirrors all over the walls.

then add a cute retro conforter,

door beads,

and scarfy drape-thingies for the windows. (check somewhere like bed bath and beyond...)

Oh boy so much...

Use tulling on the ceiling as a faux canopy...Very cheap. You can get it with sparkles...pink even purple.

Go to thrift store and start a collection of anything that looks like a genie bottle (light weight), hang from pink ribbon in the window

A shag rug like Genie had in her bottle

Get a genie costume and tac it to painted large cork board for wall art

Make pretty genie shoes from thrift store out of old slipper type shoes. Buy all kinds of embellishment (have your daughter help...if old enough) and hang them in a group on the wall.

Swags on the window made of pink tulling.(Tulling is great...its cheap).

The first thing you have to do is to hang a sheer hot pink cuutain around the four sides of the bed.  If it is a four poster bed it is easier to do.  Hang a fantastic chandeliier right over the middle, the more ornate the better.  Paint your walls purple, hang gold brocaid curtains over the windows.  Pick an East Indian patterened rug for the floor.  Buy cushions with tassles , piping and fringe and keep rich colours in mind.  That means gold, burgundy, deep green, navy blue.  Think rich.  Look for ethnic artwork ( Elephants, Tigers, etc.)  And I do think if it is a little girls room, she would probably like pink, pink, and more pink.  Good luck.
