  1. Theme: An implicit or recurrent idea; a motif: a theme of powerlessness that runs through the diary; a party with a tropical island theme.

    Setting:

    a. The context and environment in which a situation is set; the background.

    b. The time, place, and circumstances in which a narrative, drama, or film takes place.

    Four types of conflict:  Man vs Man (problems with another character), Man vs. Society (problem with the law or beliefs), Man vs. Nature (problem with a force of nature), Man vs. Himself (problem in deciding what to do or think)

    Aside: 1. A piece of dialog intended for the audience and supposedly not heard by the other actors on stage.

    2. A remark made in an undertone so as to be inaudible to others nearby

    Coincidence: A sequence of events that although accidental seems to have been planned or arranged.

    Foreshadow:to show, indicate, or suggest in advance
