its about taking medication or not..

when do you think a person must take medication?

cuz i think people who must take medication are the ones who became depressed w/o any reason at all.

for e.g. my case, i think i dont need medication because i became depressed/anxious because of certain events in my life.. it's not on the genes. i think what i need is a therapy not meds. do you think i should still take some?

  1. I would try therapy first.I would tell the therapist that to because the doctors like to hand meds out like they are candy.

  2. I'd go with this.  Find an experienced therapist who you respect and trust.  While you start to work thru the reasons you became depressed, you and the therapist also can figure out if you really need meds or not.

  3. youre right there are two types of depression.  1 is a reaction to certain external events/conditions.

The other is a disease, which is the type that requires meds.  If you have the 1st type, you should try to work out your problems instead of resorting to medication

  4. you need some therapy for the DOCTOR to decide if you need to be on meds! and antidepressants aren't just for genetic screwups like me, they are also for people who are having reactions to certain problems in their lives. and generally, therapy goes along with meds, it's kinda a package deal for a while when you first start.

  5. no. if you arent constantly depressed then the medication probably isnt a good idea. you could try getting into some natural and energy therapies such as acupuncture or reiki that help energy to flow efficiently around your body. with reiki especially, you can learn how to do it on yourself in times of need, such as the certain triggers in your life that you mentioned.
