  1. to bat the main thing to keep in mind is when the ball is coming on the wickets just use ur back foot to position ur body in line with the ball and use ur bat to defend and block. (keep ur eyes on the ball at ALL TIME)

if ur going for a shot go full hearted even if u miss judge the ball u can still get away with it with a confident stroke.

with bowling once u get ur line and length right try using different paces to keep the batsman unsettled.

  2. bowl full and straight and smack the c**p out of the ball

  3. OK you are not captain of this side otherwise there are masses more considerations.

Bowling in such limited over cricket is not about taking wickets but keeping runs against to an absolute minimum. Simply nothing bowled outside off stump but bowl at the stumps or at the batsmens feet.

When batting make room to hit the ball so come down the wicket or move away to leg so that you can give yourself some room to hit the ball.

Good luck and get back if you need some more technical tips.

  4. I play in a 7 a side tournament once a year, it's only village, and is just a bit of fun. Really, you need to focus on your fielding, but bowling wise, try and get some yorkers (or full tosses, depending on the ability of the batsman! Try not to bowl beamers. I did it twice in my tournament...) and bowling outside the off-stump. Wides need to be avoided - so concentrate on the stumps, not too hard, other wise you may mess it up.

Batting wise, I'd just say defend the good balls, and hit the bad ones, basic stuff really. But with only six fielders, look for the gaps, take sneaky singles. I'm not exactly the best to ask, as I cannot play straight - I'm so leg sided (i.e. I try to pull everything.)

Just remember the basics, and most of all, just have fun - don't take it too seriously! :)

  5. Good question

    Bowling

You need to be economical when bowling, the best way to limit the batsmen's scoring, is by bowling as full and straight as you can. Bowl yorkers, yorkers are almost impossible to hit for 6 and very difficult to hit for 4. Slower deliveries and other variations will keep the batsmen guessing, try and not bowl it on a length because batsmen can find it easy to lift that over the boundary

    Batting

Keep a solid base, watch the ball and try and go through the line of the ball, you need to score quickly. So try and aim for every ball to go for at least 2. Moving in the crease will unsettle the bowlers length too!

  6. Style of bowling ? Just keep your arm straight & try to land the ball a couple of yards short of off stump & more or less in line with off stump. The faster you can get it there, the better.

For batting, stand in line with your leg stump & face the bowler. Some people like to be at 90 degrees to the stumps but if you are more comfortable at a wider angle because it helps you to face exactly where the ball is coming from, then do that.

  7. be aggessive

  8. Batting - When You are batting always ask the Umpire for the middle stump because that will help you not to get bowled by the bowler.

Bowling - When you Bowl You should always aim with your non bowling hand. Bowl what you think is easier for you (for example: spin fast or medium pace).

  9. Bowling- you will probably have one over, so keep it pitched up as anything short on a pub tournamentitch will sit up and be demolished, outside off stump, where a 4th stump would be. if you give the batsman half volleys, he will drive through the covers, so one of that. if the wicket is very fast and bouncy, try a bouncer, but mke sure if you do it will either take his head off so he will duck,or it bounces well over him, and alert your keeper before you do this with hand signals etc. throw in a yorker after your bouncer if you are confident of being able to do that.

    Batting-

they will have 4 fielders, so probably a mid off mid on point and square leg, so dropping the ball in front of you and taking a quick single is always an option. i duobt they will have a slip so if i offers any width outside off, have a lash and if you edge it, chances are it will race to the 3rd man boundary.swing at any short stuff as the chances are you wont get caught with so few fielders. if you are competent on the off side, take a legstump guard and look to drive, or iff you canhit it on the leg side, take a middle stump guard and step accross your stumps if neccessary and smack it through midwicket/cow corner, although be wary of the yorker here as it may have you trapped lbw!!

    gd luck!!
