Can you help please about money orders ?

i had 2 money orders stolen from me and if i would have purchased them from the post office i would be reimbursed.But unfortunately i didnt..i purchased them from a check cashing place..and they told me that they would not reimburse me..is their anything i can do about that legally ?

  1. Afraid not, unless you know who stole them and want to go to the police and press charges against them.

    A money order is like cash, and you should protect it as carefully as you would protect that amount of cash, because when it's stolen, it's as good as money to anyone who has it.

In the USA those agencies must keep a log of money orders sold.  They should check up to see if they were cashed.  If they were forged you can then file a Police report.  If they have not cleared they can do a "stop payment."  I don't know if you are in the US and if the laws are the same there.
