Can you help to make it FABULOUS??!?

I'm am having my sweet 16 party soon with about 40-50 people going. I am renting a party room and having a live band but how can i make it different from all other parties? i want it to be memorable and fabulous! themes, activities, whatever you can suggest! i want people to be WOWed!....but i dont have a massive budget so not quite like my super sweet 16 on mtv! =) thanks x

Hollywood theme: Everyone dress up for a red carpet event. Rent a small hall or room. Have everyone wear white/black and you steal the show in red. Make it a dance. Buy a couple celebrity stand ups for pictures with your guests. Buy hollywood decorations at shindgiz, partycheap, hollywood megastore, etc. Have a DJ.

Luau, beach Hawaii: Orientaltrading has the coolest decorations and favors for this theme and the cutest tropical invitation in the bottle. Give your guests leis as they come in. Play Limbo, Hula hoop, and have a few grass skirts and everyone (including the guys) have to give hulaing a try. Again if you have room to do this at home or you can rent a small room.  Tropical pinata.  Twister.

Candy theme: Pink tablecloths, pink and white balloons. Make candy bouquets for the tables with short wide mouth vase from the dollar store. Fill 1/3 with peppermint disks. Buy colorful lollipops and put in the vase. Make another one t he same but use candy sticks instead like cherry, lime, etc. You can attach bows to each one with a favor card that says your initial, 16 or thanks for coming to my sweet 16 and then after the party give them out as favors. Get personalized M and Ms to put in small favor bags. Get personalized hershey bar wrappers and little personalized stickers that go on the bottom of hershey's kisses. Buy plate size styrofoam 3 inch thick rounds and wrap in clear cellophane for a big hard candy decorations. you could put a wood dowel in one to make it a sucker. Play twister. For favors those candy necklaces, bracelets ands ring pops and candy lipsticks.  They sell inflatable lollipops at Windy City Novelities.

Neon theme. Bright colors, neon lights and glow in the dark items.  They sell lights that go in balloons and all kinds of neon and glow in the dark items at windy city novelitis, oriental trading and U.S. Toy Company.

These are huge plastic murals that make your theme looks so real. We have used these and love them and so cheap. You buy backgrounds and can add things to them.

So you can get some cheaper parts that will make a bid difference.  

How to wow people is with you grand entrance. It has to go with your theme.  My daughter is doing the hollywood and everyone is dressing in semiformal black or white and she is stealing the show in a red movie star type gown and white long gloves with lots of fake diamond bling and being escorted in by her date dressed in a black tux and the song diamonds are a girls best friend.  She is going to get her nails, toes, makeup and also hair done in an updo hollywood style and wear a beautiful tiara.  I

Mostly though you have to spend a lot of time on the internet finding the cheapest prices cuz you can save a lot of money that way.

Also get favors that match your theme.  We found a lot a oriental trading.  We got clapboard keychains, personalized star trophy awards, and black and gold beads and candy in movie theme to give to guests.  They also sell really pretty cheap organza bags in all kinds of colors that you match with your theme.

clothes swap! Have all the girls bring their old clothes, shoes, accessories, books, etc. that no longer fit their bodies or their style (or that they are sick of looking at) to trade in for something new to them. Not only is this a great way to clean out a closet and recycle, but it doesn't cost a dime and everyone walks away with great new goodies. Have fun!
