I'm getting broadband internet and I don't know if the jack at the back of my computer will connect to a cable modem. I know my desktop computer (Compaq Evo D310) contains an "Integrated Intel PRO/100 Network Connection." In the back of the computer there is what looks like a phone jack, and I know the computer definately does not have a dialup type modem installed. Is this the "network connection" jack for an ethernet connection to a cable modem?

  5. Yes, the "Integrated Intel PRO/100 Network Connection" will be the Ethernet connection and uses an UTP or STP cable (with RJ45 connector) to the cable modem. The connector/jack is slightly bigger than the regular phone connector.

  6. Yes, it is. It is slightly wider than a standard phone jack and has 8 little metal receivers in it.

  7. Yes it is.

It should be able to fit a phone cable and an ethernet cable.

The ethernet jack is a little wider.

  8. Does it comming with a modem because if it is u get the ethernet and put it in the plug on the modem and then the other end goes into the jack on the wall or where ever u have it. then just follow instructions to plug everything else in.
