Can you help with my 1998 Yamaha XL700?

Question

My wave runner has a new battery and starts just fine. The problem I'm having is when I get it in the water. It accelerates but only up to about half speed. What I notice is that there seems to be an excessive amount of blue smoke coming out from the exhaust which leads me to believe the engine is getting more oil than it should. If that's the case, how do I regulate the oil flow? Or should I be looking for something else? Thanks in advance!

They do have an adj for the oil injector but that sounds more like a flooding problem.It would be hard to say why it would flood -The choke coming on -A loose main jet in the carb-Air filter dirty
