okay so i'm going to be a freshman this year and i'm really nervous about it. at the end of last year there was a lot of drama that wasn't resolved and my dad also died and i went on to a heavy depression stage for most of the summer. i'm afraid people will bring up the c**p that happened last year and will start new rumors about me trying to kill myself and stuff. plus, being in a new school, i'm afraid of getting lost and stuff. it helps a bit that my cousin and my boyfriend are both going to be seniors this year but i'm still extremely nervous. i really just want to be homeschooled but i don't want to seem weak and give up on getting things back to "normal" again. does anyone have advice on how to calm some of my nerves?

  1. Join a club, or sport. Many schools have freshman teams that will accept you no matter your skill level. Joining a club helped me to get to know a good group of people, and will help with your nerves. You should realize that people are probably going to talk to you, but if you build a good support group of close friends (who you can meet through clubs) you should be able to work through this. Also, although it is most likely hard for you to do, try to be out going. If you bottle yourself up then people are going to leave you alone, that's high school. But if you are outgoing and explain to most people the stage in life you are going through, they should be pretty empathetic. Every freshman is scared of being lost, and what forth. You are not alone. You are also not alone in your loss or your depression. Open yourself up to people, and trust that they will be there for you.

Sorry for your loss, and I hope this helps.
