Can you help with name of bbc kids programme, either mid 80's or early 90's?

3 children are sent to country side to either aunt's or uncle's house at war time, on walking around the gardens they come across a troll / gremlin that comes out of a sand pit and grants them a wish on each visit.

please help with name of programme !!!
