  1. Yes, you can.

You can find a tutor through a specialist agency or possibly a voluntary organisation; here, there is an organisation which matches up home-educating families with retired teachers.

If it is just for one or two subjects (rather than an entire curriculum) try your local media & message boards; also undergraduate students at your local uni.

As for cost? A fulltime tutor would probably cost you in the region of $50,000 a year (you might have to chuck in bed and board as well). Part time tutoring goes for approx. $50 to $100/hour.

A lot depends on where you live, your educational level, the subject(s) involved and the general rules of supply and demand tho.

  2. You could probably get by with it.   I just don't understand the purpose.   Your parents are in charge of your education if you are home schooled.

What is it that a tutor could do that they could not do?   You can read and understand what you are reading.  You can get on the internet for more information.   You can self check yourself to make sure that you are actively learning.    Are you saying that you learn better by lecture and that the tutor would lecture you in your home?  There are online college lectures that you can complete coursework for no charge.  You do not get a college credit but you are getting an education.  You can list the class on your transcripts for your home school credit.  Even you tube have educational resources for free.

  3. That would be very expensive!  You would probably be better off using a distance learning program that you can complete primarily on your own but still receive help from teachers outside your home.  Here are some companies that offer computer based instruction:

You could also see if your state has a virtual school program through k12 or connections academy:

    http://www.connectionsacademy.com

Both places offer public school programs that use certified teachers that you can complete at home.

    Good luck!

  4. what is your age... is it legal in your atate, would your parent/guardian sign off on it?  are all relevant questions.

tutors make from $10 to $30 per hour...pretty costly way to go...
