Can you hook up Bose Cubes directly to your receiver without any implications?

I have the cubes directly to my reciever without going to the acoutimass sub. I'm going to hook a powered subwoofer with seven Bose Cube speakers. Will I have to set the cubes up any certain way through the receiver?

  1. Although the cubes can be physically connected that way, they aren't going to sound their best. The bass module in your system has more than just a subwoofer. It also contains the crossover for the speakers. It is designed to reroute the correct low tones from the cubes to the sub. If you don't route the signal through it the cubes will get an unfiltered signal. You could try to engage the receivers EQ but Bose does things differently than everybody else and they don't recommend doing this. What you could do is use the bass module like normal but use a different subwoofer to compliment the system. Just split the sub out using a 1 Male/2 Female RCA Y connector to give yourself 2 sub connections.

Some people try to do what you were going to try because they are pre-wired for surround sound. If this is your problem call Bose for an adaptor. They will provide it for free often but you can pay like $10 for faster shipping.

  2. Sell the bose junk and buy real speakers.  Bose = Buy Other Sound Equipment.  Lots of money for low quality.  I used to think bose was great but after doing a few comparisions and some research I now think other wise.  Look at this site   http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html

  3. Your amp will not be at the correct impedance and the cubes do not have the correct crossover circuitry to work properly.
