Can you hook up your dvd player to your computer?

I want to play dvd-r discs on my computer but I don't know how, so I thought I'd try my dvd player.

so Im guessing u mean burned movies/videos and not just a blan dvd-r disk, if so..then ur computer needs a dvd player program
