  1. This thing is real, whatever it is. NY Channel 7 news reported it tonight on TV.

  2. Its a dog of some kind it has fur and a tail, Its been in the water for a good period of time so the snout is gone but it has to be a dog.

  3. Looking at the teeth, and knowing what a good soaking in water will do to a dead critter, I'd say it does look like a raccoon... the paws aren't very easy to see, but the little bit of fur that's still clinging to it is the right color, it's the right general size and shape...

    My vote is raccoon

    Edit:

A turtle?! What?! First, turtles don't come out of their shell in one piece like that, you've got to cut them out of it, and furthermore, there's still FUR clinging to the carcass, and there's TEETH in it's mouth, two things that turtles do NOT have, therefore it's NOT a turtle.

  4. I just think it's an alien bird, somehow it came onto the gravitational pull on our planet and cudn't stand the earth's atmospheric pressure and died landing in the ocean which must have thus washed it out on the beach. Weird animal with beak it must be a bit smaller in size tho, as it's body looks bloated. Amazing creature.

  5. It's a raccoon missing its lower jaw. It has been in the water over 6 hours.

  6. it is a turtle that has lost its shell due to a parasitic infection

  7. First of all, some of you people need to get OFF the computer and spend time doing something really constructive with your time!  I Can understand that some may think this is fake..but for you idiots calling the person posting this a fake U are just that: IDIOTS!  It is all over the news.  As an animal Scientist from the University of Illinois, I am not sure what it is, and I find it hard to be a raccoon, but anything is possible I guess!  To me it looks like an early fetus that maybe was delivered by SOMETHING, and was stillborn.  What I dont know.

Some people on here are just plain out rude!  Do your research before you start calling out "Fakers".

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER:Look at some pictures of animal embryos, and I think you will agree! If you can stomach it (or not cry!) google image "stillborn animals" I am anxiously awaiting the outcome too!!!!!!!!!!!

TO ALL THE JOKESTERS:  This is what life is about!!! I love your comments!  Especially the mother in law one! Continue having fun with life!!!!!!! Life is toooooooo short not to have fun with it!

  8. There is a much better picture of it here:

    http://i37.tinypic.com/xdyst2.jpg

And if you zoom in 100% you can clearly see its not a beak but the end of the skull missing teeth. You can also see the claws at the ends of the flipper like feet. I'm going to say its a river otter.

  9. Hmm...I agree that it could be a raccoon or maybe some type of marsupial, even though we only have one type here in the States.

It looks like someone purposefully skinned it, too...maybe to eat?  Mmmm delicious.

  10. ugly! it kinda looked like a chicken at first (*** end) but me thinks it looks like a cat w/ no fur or nose.?.

  11. Actually, if you don't believe there was an article, go to http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,3952...

The article was on Fox 10 in Arizona. As far as I know, Fox is not going to show this if it could possibly be a fake. They have a reputation to maintain.

I've also heard that it was an undeveloped raccoon. The skull is not a beak but where the skull has deteriorated by the water. The swelling is also from the water. If you look up baby raccoons, you will see why it makes sense.

  12. ..sigh..people, its a Pitbul. you know DOG! the snout has been eaten off...

In referacne to the posts below me...ITS a baby pitbull, or possibly boxer.

  13. I would say it was a raccoon that was skinned, and now someone is wearing it's fur... sad :( terrible people......

  14. I agree with the lady who said it was fake

  15. I believe it is  turtle. If you look at it's head there is a turtle like mouth. And, well obviously that means it was out of his shell. But Idk.

  16. I tried looking up information on the news article and found nothing.

    its a fake

  17. eureka!

  18. it's an old critter called a photoshop

  19. I can't even imagine how some folks can say this is a raccoon.  Have you seen a raccoon? The snout of a raccoon is much larger and they don't have almond shaped eyes. I see enough of them as road kill every day.

I'm saying this is either the work of a very talented make up/special effects artist or genetic engineering gone awry. Could be a fetus of some sort.  Could be a gargoyle!

Where is this creature is now?  I would think that it has already been dissected by a team of scientists and that we would have been giving some sort of explanation by now or maybe the govt. has taken over and we will never know.

  20. this isn't fake!!! I live in miami and I heard about it on the radio this morning...totally freaky! it could be a turtle out of its shell...I guess we'll have to wait to find out what it really is....I was just discussing it with my parents & my dad brought up a good point...it could easily be some sort of lab experiment/animal testing gone wrong!!!

  21. Yes, I believe it's a prop used in the teaser of a movie that you're promoting, which I will not name because that would make me an enabler, and I am not part of your scheme nor am I interested in it.

Nice try at viral marketing though. Next time I'll report you for abuse.

Addendum: I still believe you're perpetrating a hoax to create buzz for your movie. You uploaded some still photos and a mock newspaper page that is also evidently a prop from the movie. Provide a link to the article in the online version of the newspaper and I promise I'll give you a second chance. But you can't do that, can you, because it never happened.

Anyone who likes can search the East Hampton Independent linked below. I guarantee you won't find an article about this "mystery animal."

Further, check out a search for

    montauk monster "viral marketing"

that I ran (second link.) I'm not the only person who believes this is a hoax to promote a movie.

And the third link is to a definition of viral marketing for folks who aren't familiar with the term.

UPDATE: I emailed Kay Merrill, the reporter at the "The Independent" who supposedly wrote the article about this corpse. She confirmed that she did write the article and that the corpse was identified as being that of a raccoon.

Simple explanation. End of story. Not very exciting.

  22. it's not a cat, it looks like a pig type thing. huh. is it dead??

  23. It's my Mother-in-Law after hard night of drinkin' Teqkilla.

  24. is that for real??  looks like a dog pig cross.....lol  seems like someone would do a necropsy on it to find out what it is.

  25. I don't think it's a turtle or a raccoon. Look at the link of a raccoon skull below... raccoon skulls aren't as pointy as the monster thing. And it being a sea turtle? Common now... the poor thing would have had it's shell cut off. gross... butt yeaa this is very strange. Freaky actually.

  26. its a chupacabra
