This is very had to conceive although just what is Christ meaning in the scripture below?

Matthew 15:8-10 (King James Version)

8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

  1. The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." John 4:23

"And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." Revelation 14:6-7

"The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:" Mark 2:27

"If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it." Isaiah 58:13-14

  2. Sunday worship is a tradition of man.

Christ is Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, Luke 6:5).

The Eternal said, remember the Sabbath.

    He knew we'd forget.

  3. Not what you're thinking...He's saying that people talk about him and his teachings but the don't live life by them.  Kind of like most Christians

  4. Its not you took those scriptures out of context.

Mat 15:7  Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

He was quoting the prophet who said the people of Israel draw close to me with words from their mouth that have no meaning.

Their hearts do not follow me.

They try to flatter me with the words of their mouth.

    God said about the church

Mat 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

When christians meet on Sunday God is there in their midst.

  5. Those passages mean that God doesn't hear hypocrites, not about what day of the week to worship.  Stop your hypocrisy over which day of the week matters more and He may hear your prayers as well.  Peace.

  6. You should be more thorough when you study bible. Matt: 15: 8-10 is referring to verses in the book of Isaiah.

  7. That would be a false Christianity following a false religion. Just because God in not in the churches when they worship on Sunday, does not mean that He is not in some of the individuals on that day.

  8. It says where two or three are gathered in my name.... But then, what is HIS name?

  9. How about the man on his knees in the Temple saying "forgive me Lord, for I am a wicked sinner"---he was the one that was made righteous and not the other one who stood there saying "I thank you God that I am not like all these other sinners"

  10. He's talking about many churches that do not worship Christ for Christ's sake, but for their own glory. People like the Pharisees in the Bible who had the Jewish traditions, but didn't recognize the King of the Jews when He came, because they were too busy trying to serve themselves by "serving God". It is the heart that God searches. It is the motive of the action, not just the action itself.

  11. How do those verses apply to question of whether we should worship on any given day?

  12. This does not in any way imply that he refused to be with them because of the day of the week they met on.  It says that he didn't associate with them because they were teaching things that were not Godly.  If the person instructing you is trying to imply that "the commandments of men" means Sunday worship services, it's because that supports their belief structure, not because it's accurate.  There are plenty of instances in the New Testament where it says that people met on Sunday, and these meetings were attended by the original apostles, so they should know if it was allowed or not.

  13. I find church to be the most unholy place to be these days.

Churches are full of hate, racism, classism, and only accept republicans into their social club.  They are haters who lie and manipulate.  I hate church!

  14. I already think this is true.

Think about the people who claim that they are prophets from God and that they know when the end of the world is.

They go to Sunday services, but are their hearts truly there?

Or those who only use the pulpit to speak against other Christian denominations, slandering their names and their beliefs, is that truly with God?

I don't think it's very hard to conceive at all. And it is what Christ means with this passage. There are many people who only go to church because they have to or it's a family tradition...they don't really want to be there, but they are because of a familial obligation. Do I think this means an entire church? Not particularly, possibly some, but it certainly speaks to those who just go to church because they *have* to.

There is nothing behind their words and thoughts, they are empty.

  15. I agree with you that the Sabbath is on the 7th day and always has been.  Man changed it in about the 3rd century, along with dropping Passover and adding the worship of the pagan goddess Ishtar for "Easter."  Unfortunately, most Christians aren't aware of many things that happened in the early "church" and haven't bothered to learn.  I did, however, and was actually angry that we have been lied to for 1,700 years.

My Messiah was a Torah-observant Jew and now, I am as well.
