  1. No. Most of us would not have been born if it weren't for cars and airplanes.

  2. Yes!

  3. No. I think it would be pretty cool in the countryside but the cities without cars would be a total wreck subways will be full with people, but I would love to live in the countryside that would be fun.

  4. Go visit Mackinac Island - is a tourist attraction in Michigan's upper peninsula that banned cars 100 years ago.

Then you don't have to imagine anything, because the horses take a dump everywhere.

  5. Probably not, but with the growth of better communications and cars environmental damage, they may become less used as more people work at home and use video conferencing for meetings.

  6. It would be a better world for sure...

  7. I think folks would be much happier in a world without cars.  I live 8 miles from work in Portland, OR and I commute every day by bicycle...

Remember bicycles!?!?  They're those two wheeled tickets to freedom we all loved as children!

Consider:  Portland has one of the best public transportation systems in the world.  Yet it takes me 10 minutes less to bicycle to work.

Driving? Ha!  It takes less time to cycle than to drive.

Excercise - oh heck yeah - I eat what I want, I don't have to drive to the gym, I'm healthier, happier and just so much more cool than the poor souls stuck in their metal boxes.

Not to mention the bank I am saving... no gym membership, no gas, no insurance, no auto maintenance, doing the enviro thing...

Heck yeah I can imagine a world without cars.  People would live closer to their work, neighborhoods would be waaaaayyyyy more liveable, people would be healthier, air would be cleaner.

It really seems like a no brainer to me.  Trains, Planes and...

    Bicylces.

  8. Sure but 99.9% of the people at my job would be unable to get to work.  Honda built their Ohio plants and R&D about 30 miles from the nearst city.  Unless someone built some type of mass transit system out there it would be impossible to get here.

  9. Yes, and it is the stuff of nightmares.

  10. it like wouldn't work. we depend on modern technology so much.

  11. Yes, I can certainly imagine it.  Of course I was given my first horse at the age of 13.  30 years later, and I've never spent a single day without a horse.  I'd adapt just fine.  I shocked my Mother as a young teenager, when she found I could ride 30-40 miles from home in a single day.
