  1. Absolutely, cycling is excellent for cardiovascular fitness. It's better in some ways than running, because there is less impact so less chance of getting knee, ankle or back injuries.

  2. yh cause u will be using the muscles in ur legs duhh.

  3. Yes, you need to work out a similar type of programme. Work out how fit you are by timing yourself over say 5 miles(remember you have to cycle back so allow enough time) or see how far you can cycle in 15 Min's. Then either try to cycle same 5 miles in less time or increase the distance you cover in 15 Min's. Keep at that a couple of times a week and then start working on bigger distances/ time when you feel ready to push it a bit further.  Don't go for massive improvement too quickly, build up to it. This way you can see your level of fitness improve but remember, stamina is only one aspect of fitness, you need to do some flexing/stretching exercises and some weights/strength exercises to improve all round fitness.

  4. yes depending on the riding type bmxing will work pretty much work most muscle areas and normal bike riding will work the legs and abs but just not as vigorous as running i have started bmxing again end i lost like 2 pounds in one week with my normal eating habits.

  5. it is good aerobic exercise, depending of course on the level of

    effort.

it will also tone the thighs and calves, but you will need some

other exercises for the upper body.

  6. Just bike longer, harder , faster.

  7. I ride a Track bike and whenever you go out on the road/trail, it really gives you a workout. Track bikes are fixed gear, which means no coasting (like the spinning bikes at a gym). But few people like them because the geometry is not for long distance riding and can be uncomfortable. I usually ride 25miles as fast as i can, and that's more than enough

  8. If you ride daily for a few miles and do some uphill work it is a good work out for the whole body.
