Just curious. But. I need to improve my vertical and.. I have a stationary bike. I am planning to do intervals . Like 10 minutes warming up/cooling down and then 1 minute going as fast as I can with lots of resistance. I will even try putting ankle weights on while biking. Anyways i'm sure the explosiveness of riding a bike can help my lower body. But will it be able to increase my vertical jump?

Oh and don't worry, I'm currently doing Air Alert and TONS of Jumping exercise. But I just want to add a little extra help to my legs and I was wondering if stationary bike interval training could help my jumping ability.

Again, I will test out if i could also try riding the stationary bike with ankle weights, that way.. I could be more explosive.

P.S like I said. I am doing tons of jumps plus, I workout my ENTIRE BODY. So I am just wondering ONLY about Stationary bikes and if they can help me jump higher and improve my lower body strength.

  1. No. A stationary bike will exercise your slow-twitch muscles, not your fast-twitch. Building upper body mass will probably be counter-productive, too.
